Hi Camila, I think I found an answer for you here:
"The speed of hair growth is roughly 1.25 centimeters or 0.5 inches per month, being about 15 centimeters or 6 inches per year. With age the speed of hairgrowth might slow down to as little as 0.25 cm or 0.1 inch a month."
I can vouch for the fact that growth rate does not always slow down as you age...I am almost 67 now, and my hair still grows fast. But here is the website for you, it had quite a few interestng things about growing hair!

I believe that everyone's hair has it's own growth rate. I realize there can be an average (per VirginiaL's answer by web-site above), however, different ethnic backgrounds lend to different hair textures and coarseness along with growth rates. Just like fingernails, my nails may grow faster then my co-workers, therefore, my hair which is coarse and thick grows faster then my daughter in-laws whose hair is baby fine and thin. But, using the information at the above site does give you a frame to work with as far as guesstimates are concerned. Example: my hair grows 1/4-1/2 inch a month, my daughter in-laws grows less than half of that. We gauge it with hair-cuts per month.
Most people's growth rate is 0.5 inches per month, but with different people, especially with thinner hair, as I have, it varies. If your hair doesn't grow close to that rate, it can be a sign of different health issues that you might want to address. Eating properly, and juicing with lots of dark green vegetables, makes my hair grow not only faster, but thicker in diameter. Most people shed hair during the fall, and spring, but that also varies. Hair loss of 150 hairs per day is normal, but if you have thin hair to begin with, that begins to add up. Keep up a good vitamin habit, avoid junk foods, and start juicing vegetables, and keep kidneys healthy. They have a lot to do with hair health.
I believe as important as this subject may be it is not. I would sooner worry about the National Budget. . . as that seems to grow much faster than the hair rate. Now that is more important. Figure & Fix that first !
If you make the commitment to closely follow the five steps below, not only will you grow long hair but your hair will be in beautiful condition throughout the process. Read my tips below...
1. Comb your hair daily. This will help stimulate hair growth. Even if you’re at work, be sure to take constant breaks to brush your hair, just don’t get caught.
2. Moisturize your hair. Find a good moisturizing shampoo and conditioner that adds volume to your hair.
3.Use hair packs once a week to put sustenance in your hair. Much the same as your skin, hair too requires some product of spoiling on a general foundation and cutting edge hair packs help give a clean sparkle to your hair.
