I need to know what the punishment for child abuse is?

A 40 year old guy in a book is caught abusing a little girl since she was ten,(she is now 14),and was abusing her mother since she was born.What is the punishment he will receive? just curious.

Punishment for child abuse has a wide range depending on the manner in which the said offense was committed. In most cases, child abuse is charged as felony or a minor offense. Why would you want to know unless you did it? Answer it lots of jail time could be for life depending on what Lu have done to the child.
