Bass Guitar is really easy to learn. You get to execute chords really easy.

I agre! I learned to plunk out some really elementary single note bass lines almost immediately by ear, then had formal lessons which really helped!

cmacam is RIGHT! Both piano and drums uses A LOT of contrary motion and hand/finger(arms for drums) dexterity. I played drums in highschool.and piano. Greenpaw, no offesne, but you probably don't play either of these instruments. Yes as an observer or listener, both seem way cool...but as a player (i.e a musician) it is quite a different story!!! Bongos are easier, but even with those there is still a musical tenique to be learned.
Report as
Agree!(:
Report as
i follow cmacam, piano and frums are a hard instrument, one of the reasons is because you cant just focus on one hand, you need to on both, this is very hard for some
Report as
well i played the drums before for a little, and they were pretty easy to me, but I stopped, it just wan't my thing

i like the ideas except for the flute lol. Flutes are actually a really hard instrument to play. it takes all your breath and you need really strong lungs to play it in most cases

Yeah, the flute, starting, is pretty hard, but as you practice harder, it gets easier and easier. Same with guitar and clarinet

The triangle is very easy and simple. I know that you are looking for a real answer so I'd say the xylophone.

The easiest instrument to play, and I am surprised no one has said this, is the kazoo. Just stick the kazoo in your mouth and hum. I do not know of an instrument that is easier to play.

Update: Whoops. Upon further reading, as of right now, only two people besides me have answered kazoo.

Nr 1 is the Kazoo for sure...and the Jews Harp which I think is more fun....The Xylephone is very easy sounds great and lots of fun..also good for kidsThe Dichiridoo is not much harder...but maybe more interesting...especially when vocalizing....As far as melodic instruments, the recorder flute is the easiest and used in elementary schools for that reason. The Harmonica is about the same maybe slightly harder because of the in-and-out fashion of blowing it...drums aren`t hard either...(bongos etc) If you like the flute but not the sound so much, try the Ocarina flute..sounds more natural and earthy...it`s my favorite....guitar is not so easy but bass guitar is easier...filling crystal wine glasses with different levels of water and wetting a finger which you then rub on the rim of the glasses in a circular motion produces beautyful easy sounds..... ...Have fun

Honestly i think the piano. I play the piano violin guitar flute saxophone drums and cello. Oh, I also sing a little. It's defiantly piano, because songs are very easy to compose and learn.

do you have video of you play this?
Report as
Hi, I too play severval of these instrments, but for me saxophone and bass guitar were the easiest, probably because they are single note instruments (well..you can chord on bass if you wish, but most cool bass lines are single note). I guess my own manual dexderity is diferent from your, 'cause I found piano and drums (set) more difficult because of all the contrary motion. Those two are my hardest instruments. But to the originator of this post - DEFINATELY try and find a musical instrument, because you wlil have a skill and loads of fun for life, not to mention you can go professional if you get really good!

Your own singing voice. A lot of people will disagree with me on this, but your singing voice is considered an instrument. You see lead singers in bands right? Obviously, but they use their voices. Your singing is an easy instrument.

There isnt really an "easiest" instrument to play. Each has its own aspects that make it difficult, with any instrument, yes even triangle or cowbell, hours upon hours of practice is required to master the sound you want. If you are looking for an instrument to play that you can pick up on quickly, i'll give you a few suggestions.

Recorder: you simply blow in, and depending on the holes your fingers cover, it produces a certain sound. You could be playing simple songs in a few hours. The drawbacks are that, recorder Doesnt have a lot of commercial use, and while easy to pick up, it can be a pain to master.

Piano/Keyboard: Not the simplest of instruments, in fact, it can be quite hard, but like the recorder, you can start having simple fun pretty fast. Piano also has a lot more commercial use, and gives you a lot more potential music to learn.

Some other suggestions would be Saxophone (my personal favorite to play), trumpet, or guitar.

To answer your question as best I can, my opinion would be the wistle. Its pretty simple to blow air in and hear a ringing.

For me personally, saxophone and bass guitar were the easiest because they are single note instruments (well.. you can chord on bass, but most cool bass lines are single note). Piano and drums (set) require a lot more manual dexderity, and contrary motion, but can be mastered with devoted practice. I play(ed) all the above at one time or another (and even tried my brother's trumpet). But DEFINATELY DO TRY and find a musical instrument that suits you! Playing instruments has been one of the most fun and rewarding things I have ever done in my life!!! I started as a kid and now as a middle aged adult, I am still playing. Also, if you get good at an instrument you can go professional and then the possibilities are endless!!! Good Luck Kid!

P.S. if this is music in the school system, ask the music teacher to let you sample a few instruments, so you can get a feel for what works for you...my school music teacher did that for me.

If you want to play an instrument with tabs, then the harmonica or guitar is good (harmonica is easier but the guitar is cooler) but for instruments you have to read sheet music for, percussion instruments are easy because once you can understand beats and the basics of music, you can play just about anything in the percussion group. If you want something that you would be satisfied in making music without depending on other instruments in the song (which means learning to read notes) the xylophone is good (or again the guitar or harmonica because you can use sheet music OR tabs with these instruments). Consider variables like how much these instruments cost, maintenance, and if you know anyone who plays this instrument who you could ask for help.
