Help! Credit card fraud!

I just found out that a trusted employee was using my credit card and returning the merchandise and having the credit placed on his own card. It was my understanding that the visa/master card rules require that the credit be put back on the same card. I know that the employee needs prosecuted but one merchant did this with over $5000.00 of returns. Is there any financial liability to the merchant?

Potentially, but not likely. I know when I worked at Walmart, the system was set up to simply return the amount to the card originally used, however employees had the ability to override that, and if the customer wants it put on a different card, then there usually wasn't an issue.

Call the card number on the back for fraud and put a claim in then get the statement And go to the police.

The best thing to do is to first report the fraud to the authorities. This is to take legal action against the employee who was illegally using the credit card. The customer might also have to be investigated to make sure he had nothing to do with the illegal activity and the authorities will take the necessary action according to their policy.
