the only thing i can say about listerine that is irently bad for you is the fact that it contains as much fluoride as tooth paste! worst is in liquid form!
anything liquid is more quickly absorbed by your system! 8 years ago. on tooth paste it was written that if you swallowed toothpaste! you should go to the hospital ASAP and get the tooth paste extracted from your stomatch as it is a very toxic chemical!
Good afternoon, PJ. No, Listerine doesn't cause cancer, and neither does fluoride toothpaste.
I have just been shouting about smoking and cancer in another answer, as I worked with Dr Jenkins in the early sixties, when the newspapers got hold of his research and screwed it up so much he was almost in tears.
Cigarette smoking causes a VERY TINY amount of people who are direct smokers (not second-hand smokers) to have a FEW types of cancer (most of which are curable or operable) in a VERY SMALL number of cases. The danger from smoking isn't nicotine (which we use in surgery anyway), it is the carbon monoxide inhaled by the smoker, which puts a strain on the heart. Secondary smokers do not inhale the monoxide, it has been absorbed.
Anyone really worrying about lung cancer, avoid ashphalt, diesel fuel and exhausts, and town air - these are major sources. When the snow melts in the spring, look at the crap that's left, and you'll see what we all breathe every day.
I've never heard of any correlation between the use of both Listerine and tobacco making a tobacco user more likely to develop cancer. But tobacco use without the use of Listerine has been shown to cause all kinds of cancer, in addition to other diseases.
