There was a samurai named Miyamoto Musashi. He was the greatest swordsman in Japan. Because of this every samurai wanted to prove their sword skills against him. One day a much bigger man appeared and challenged Musashi to a duel. Musashi accepted but said that he didn't want to fight in the crowded town. He wanted to row out to an island and have the duel there. During the boat ride Musashi took a boat oar and started whittling a wooden sword saying he didn't need a real one to beat the man. The challenger kept getting more and more upset. Finally they reached the island. The challenger hurried off the boat and ran onto the island. Musashi grabbed his wooded sword and pushed the boat back out to sea. So because of his brains he outsmarted the bigger warrior.
