Some of the best places to watch the 4th of July Independence fireworks are National Mall,Great American Festival, Celebrate Frederick and City Of Fairfax Independence Day Celebration. You may also go to the West Side Highway and Surrounding Area for a better view.
Living in New Jersey near the Hudson River, which is across from Manhattan, for the major part of my life (except for the last eight years) it's probably everyone's favorite near there to try to get to a spot to see the famous Macy's Fireworks Show. The show lasts about 1/2 hour. It is so crowded along the three cities that line Hudson River that you can watch it from, it is difficult to find a place to park, and it's very crowded. If you are lucky to live in a high building facing that way, you can see everything. One year I was hospitalized and on the 6th floor, and a Nurse wheeled me into the Day Room of the Hospital and we watched it from there. It is also televised, around here, so now in the suburbs, I settle for watching it on television.
In my opinion, New York city is the best. Their fireworks are amazing every year; and they set them off near the Statue Of Liberty. So it really sets the mood and is something you will remember for a long time
