It is anime (cartoon). It is really good if you are into that. Its a story about two boys who used alchemy to bring there mother back after she died. They were amateurs at using a transmutation circle and lost part of their bodies. They search to find a philosopher stone to increase their powers and get their bodies back. This is one of the plots. There are many subplots to it and its full of metaphors and symbolic meanings. I recommend it. I watch anime and haven't found anything deeper.
