If Jesus paid for all of our sins, then how come people are still judged and accounted for and sent to hell?

It is said that if you are a Christian, and when you die and are sent to meet God where he will judge you, Jesus will stand up and wipe away all of your sins because he already paid for them on the cross. If this is so, and I believe it is, then why are some people sent to hell? Does it have to do with your belief? That's what I'm thinking it is. Am I correct?

If I bought you a gift, but you said you didn't want that gift or ignored my existence and the existence of my gift, then you would not have that gift. God does not force us to accept the gift of salvation and those that choose not to take it will not receive it.

I think Hell's a temporary thing. Everyone gets into Heaven eventually. Thats just my idea anyways.

Actully that isn't right, everyone will not go to heaven, once you are sent to hell it is eternal, there is no changing your mind once you are in hell, and once you have gone to heaven it is eternal too.

I have a hard time believing that an all-seeing all-knowing god who sent his Son to die for us could leave anyone in Hell forever. Maybe I'm wrong though. Anyways, I'm a Christian and I try to be a good person, so with any luck I'll never find out.

he died for us so that our sins could be forgiven, he opened the gates of heaven for us,

this is because , people take for granted that they will automatically go to heven,
more unforgiving sins like murder will not be forgiven that easily
and everything big or small will be accounted for in the day of judgement.

Every one will be judged, even Christians, but He will tell you (what I have heard) well done my good and faithful servant, but we dont know what He will say till we die, and He tells the people who are not Christians why they are going to hell. (at least that's what I heard)
I hope I explained it ok to you, if you have any more questions about it just ask.

Jesus the Christ was God's messenger. He came to people to lead them to truth. Everybody is responsible for his/her own doings. No one is going to be punished instead of someone else's sins.

The atonement analogy is a metaphor, and with all metaphors is slightly flawed.

You have to accept His free gift of grace by confessing that Jesus died on the cross for your sins and believe that He rose again to overcome death and then you will have eternal life. We will all stand before our King for an accounting of our lives, some of us will give an account if our lives lived for Christ and our service on earth to glorify Him and some will be turned away because they denied God and His grace to be separated from His love forever.

Each person must ACCEPT Jesus' sacrifice personally, which includes baptism, a full submersion in water. (see Acts 2:37-38 & the meaning of 'baptizo' in Greek, which is the word that baptism derived from). BAPTISM is what forgives us of our sins, which is possible through Jesus' sacrifice. Also, even after baptism, that person must live their life FOR GOD to the best of their ability.
If a person chooses not to get baptised and follow Jesus, then their sins have not been forgiven, because they made the choice not to. I know it sounds harsh, but it's not-- God WANTS everyone to accept him, but some people will choose not to.
This kind of question could be drawn out into WEEKS of studies, and I wish I could say more but I'm limited here :) If you have more questions or doubts, please DON'T just take my word for it (or anyone else's)- I could have said something wrong- but go to the Bible for answers, because only the Bible is the truth <3

"Believe in the Lord Jesus, and you will be saved" (Acts 16:31). God has already done all of the work. All you must do is receive, in faith, the salvation God offers (Ephesians 2:8-9).
Fully trust in Jesus alone as the payment for your sins. Believe in Him, and you will not perish (John 3:16). God is offering you salvation as a gift. All you have to do is accept it. Jesus is the way of salvation (John 14:6).

It is written:
John 3:13
And no man hath ascended up to heaven, but he that came down from heaven, even the Son of man which is in heaven.
1 Thessalonians 4:16-17
For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first:
Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord.
Matthew 7:13-14
Enter ye in at the strait gate: for wide is the gate, and broad is the way, that leadeth to destruction, and many there be which go in thereat:
Because strait is the gate, and narrow is the way, which leadeth unto life, and few there be that find it.

Sure Jesus died to pay for all our sins, and for that we should all be eternally grateful, but some people are not.....
Some people choose by themselves to sin, and the punishment for sin is death (eternal life in hell) which is why we need to spread the word to ask for forgiveness from God whenever we sin, because with Jesus we can pass through the gates of heaven!

Jesus died to make it easy for us to gain forgiveness. Its not like everyones sins were automatically wiped out at that moment. You still have to choose to believe in Jesus and his gift then ASK for forgiveness. It doesnt automatically pre-excuse you from further sin either. You have to be aware of your sin and ask forgiveness. It is unrepented sin we will be judged on.
People will go to hell because they chose Not Him instead of Him.

Hmm ok, well touching on the hell subject.. think about this illustration... If you had a kid, and your kid kept doing something that you had told him not to do, many many times.. And you keep telling him to stop, but he doesnt, would you heat up the stove, and place his hands on it?.. I should hope not. Well the same goes for God. So think about this, God is our father yes? And God knows we are not perfect yes? And since he is our father, does he not love us? Why would he burn us for eternity then? Does it make much sense, that a God wbo IS love, as the bible says, would make someone burn, in a fiery pit, for ETERNITY? i mean thats not even worth the sin. Absolutely nothing is worth that. So what do you think im getting to?.. (Please comment lol, im asking for your participation)..

Beautiful green for you. I agree with u. To say a god - who really is a god - can have such vague vanity to grill his children for crimes, as menial as unbelief, is a sheer slander against the very idea of an "all loving", "all merciful" & "all kind" god!

Lol actually i think i read your comment incorrectly, im sorry.. Well what im trying to say is that there is no hell, how could a God of love burn his children for eternity? It makes no sense. Death is the ultimate punishment, why must he take it further? If that is ehat you meant then in am sorry for my previous comment.

Jesus died for none. Moral crime can't be transferred to someone or be suffered by proxy. To punish the innocent for the guilty falls into "pecuniary justice", not into "moral justice". To suppose moral justice to do so is an immoral slander against the very idea of justice itself. A supposedly "infinitely just" god, who allows "pecuniary justice" by being "immoral" is ANYTHING BUT god.

Hell is a scare tactic, to up the ante, devised by collective perversion.

Not exactly. If you are a christian, and want your sins covered, it's yours. "Ask, and you shall receive" Have that confidence and enjoy your life here and eternally.

Those who refuse to be saved will be judged so they can be shown their error, then permanently blotted out. The devel and his followerd will be sent to the lake of fire. Not unbelievers or those who rejected their faith.
