You should have a marker in place of your ball when some one else is putting, etc. just in case of this. I guess just replace your ball where you remember it being.

The person whose shot struck the ball at rest plays his ball as it lies; the person whose ball was moved returns the ball to its original position.

There is no way you can be 100% sure of the exact placement of your ball again, so you play it where it lies

Unless you place a marker.

I thought there was an instance on the PGA where this happened and the discussion was that you could hav a choice as to playing it where it stopped or replacing where you "thought" it had been???

I would think that if you were gonna try to replace the ball back to it's original spot, then the people you are playing with would have to be OK with the ball placement. I still think that playing it where it lies is what "should" be done though :)

Play as it lies you cannot replace your ball where you thought it was
