Who should I call to report an internet scam where $160 was traded in person in Middleburg, FL?

I had recently put out an ad for a puppy on Craigslist, was contacted by a couple in Middleburg, and then paid a $160 deposit on a litter in person. He gave me his ID to copy down any details I wanted so naturally I assumed there was no way it was a scam if he was willing to give me his address so I didn't copy it down.

I called 3 times trying to get an update on the puppies and every time I called he told me his wife would call and update me...well after the 3rd call I called again the next day and the line was dead. I WANT MY MONEY BACK. Who would I contact to help me with this? The police? I've already put my case to the board for Internet scamming.
