Pedmas or Pemdas? I was taught both can get the same answer but can you think of an equation where answers won't be the same?

I can recall my teacher saying Multiplying can sometimes give me a different answer if done before division. I was also taught they get me the same answer, so can you think of any instance(s) that will get me two different answers?

They will both give you the same answer because division is really a form of multiplication. Division is just multiplying by the multiplicative inverse of a number. Because zero is the only number that doesn't have a multiplicative inverse, division by zero is said to be undefined since you can't multiply by it's multiplicative inverse.

PEMDAS is the correct method. I think the two methods won't give you the same answer. This is because PEMDAS solves an expression from left to right. This means that one has to solve the parentheses first, the exponent, multiply/divide, and lastly add/subtract.

It will give the same answer either way but I always go with pemdas. edit: as long as you do parentheses then exponents, it doesn't matter if you divide before multiply, or subtract before add, multiply/divide is the same form of math, same for add/subtract.
