The Ohio law grants parents much of the decision as to if a child should be treated for a life threatening illness to a degree. If a child is diagnosed with a cancer that physicians believe is curable and the child can live a long productive life if treatment is had then they can request a court hearing to request the courts to order the parents to allow the treatment. This area of medicine is very sensitive as some religions do not allow for current medical treatments. However, parents that refuse to have their child treated depending on the circumstance may be charged with neglect. There is no straight forward law on treating minors with a life threatening condition. Most of the cases are decided on a case by case basis.
