What's the best way of getting rid or killing a garden snake or Moth balls?

Report as

Moth balls,it is pointless to kill a non poisonous snake and often does more harm than good e.g. When idiots kill king snakes!

I'd just catch it and release it elsewhere

Don't kill it! Find a fearless little boy or a big strong man to remove it for you. Where is it hiding anyway, in your grandma's woolen underwear drawer?

I was told to use mothballs to keep skunks outta our cabin-- now my cabin smells like grandma's house with an underlying aroma of skunk. I don't think the mothballs helped

That's a smell from my childhood. I think we must have had fiercer moths or weaker clothes in those days.

For my Sasquatch file, do moths get into your pelt? Or is tha fleas?

it is a smell from my childhood as well-- my grandma lived in an ancient house in Pennsylvania, the place --and she reeked of mothball

[shudder]
now I have the heebiejeebies-- no bugs in my hair... none at all-- the sasquatch styling salon down the street sees to that

Ha, ha, they should have made different fragrances for mothballs...

" Don't kill it! Find a fearless little boy or a big strong man to remove it for you" can't. stop. laughing.

In our house, my daughter Breanne was always called upon for spider-removal duty - she loved (and still loves) the little guys, and they seem to take a shine to her. I saw her freak out her boyfriend the other day with a fat, cream-colored orb-weaver that crawled into her vicinity, which she just snatched up and cooed to it until it sat patiently on her hand...

That must have been a rotten comment of Rotten's...

BP I don't think mothballs work if they smell pretty. The moths don't like that ghastly stench either.

Phil I was sitting on a railway station a few years ago when a spider dropped out of an overhanging shrub and landed on my arm. He wasn't very big, and was quite nice looking, so I was turning my arm this way and that while I watched him. After a couple of minutes I happened to glance at the woman sitting next to me and the expression on her face was sheer horror. I put the spider back into the tree.

I'm not big on spiders mysef, but I found out why about a decade ago. Breanne came running over to the deck with a prize *gorgeous* bright-yellow, active spider running around her hands as she kept going, hand-over-hand, to keep contact. Her grandmother looked at me, horrified, and said something like "why do you let her do that? she could be bitten badly".

Now the challenge was to me. The dad. Great. Breanne looked at mekid of confused and I said "he's beautiful, honey, can you put him on me?" She did. I then said "now can you get him the flock off of me?" and she did. And with a huge smile sent skipping off to the garden to put that bad boy back where he belonged.

Granny harumphed and said no more. i said "so that's where I get it from ..."

I totally passed the dad test that day .... still creeps me out, tho ...

Funny story. My kids were an education to me. They still are -- and the oldest of them turned 50 this year 8<{

Get a small container of some sort and a stick and coax the snake into it and then release it in a safe place. As for mothballs maybe try baking soda.
