After asking a question on "ASK" do the answers just keep flowing in or do they eventually stop automatically or do I somehow stop them.

Eventualky the question will get far down on the list and be inactivated so no one can answer if they even see it. Until then tho there is not a way to stop answers but you can stop reading them any time.

They stop when people don't feel like answering any more. This might be the only answer you get for this question.
