Continuously high bilirubin, fatigue, nausea, dizzy, jaundice, so many tests, no answers!

I have hereditary spherocytosis. This affects my blood cells. Directly with my spleen. Never had any liver issues before, now i am being seen my a liver specialist and have NO answers...and am so sick of being sick. A year of symptoms, now i just want answers. I am only 21 years old.

If you have been having high Bilirubin over the last year, then you are not okay. However, your body is trying to control the situation. Hyperbilirubinemia and splenomegaly are some of the bad symptoms. I would advise you to consult a doctor. For more details, go to http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hereditary_spherocytosis.

Thank you, I have been seeing a doctor, having blood tests done monthly, and am going in for ANOTHER abdominal ultrasound on Tuesday. The spherocytosis was officially diagnosed when i was 7. I have always been jaundice to an extent. Typically, do the two "malfunctions" go hand in hand? (spherocytosis/liver function). Thank you!

You need to check with a specialist. Your Spleen is the largest lymphoid organ. Filters blood, destroys worn out red blood cells supply iron and is a reserve "pod" for good blood. An oncologist should be checking-up on you.

I also have this Hereditary Spherocytosis. My sister was the first case in Texas at age 12. She is now 49 years old. They studied all my family and I had my surgery at age 19.Our diagnosis was put in the books. I have no spleen or gallbladder. I have been fine ever since they removed all 12 gallstones and my infected spleen. My son is going through this right now. He is only 14. You need a GI doctor. I highly recommend the Medical Center in Houston, Texas.
