Which VTEC engine should i use to get the best performance out of a 1987 Honda CRX?

I've heard that the B18 is bulletproof. It will take mostly everything that you throw at it. Even while having a bunch of modifications on it. For the most part, unless you're looking for over 400 hp, you can keep the stock block and just upgrade the top end.

You can get 400 horsepower out of a VTEC engine??? Sorry for all the questions, im used to working on Muscle cars but economy is so bad, time to get a ricer but i want the most power i can get

The best VTEC engine can be like H22, B16, B18, B20 K series, and many others. These engines work the best in Honda CRX, where they best perform in 1987 model. However, a visit to the dealers will make you get other recommendations.

I currently have a K20a stock engine and im not sure if its worth the upgrades im willing to throw into it or just get a whole other engine. Any suggestions?
