Where are the facts / what are the facts supporting claim that the Obama care is the biggest tax ever levied on the nation?

The way I understand it, is that the tax / penalty will be paid only by those few who want to be “free loaders” not paying for their medical insurance, hoping that those who buy one will cover them for free…isn’t that stealing??
Would it be unreasonable to levy some extra penalty / tax on thieves??
I used to learn a lot from CNN, but lately they just carry on with endless, silly discussion what to call it “tax or penalty”.. how pathetic.

Facts don't support that Obamacare is the biggest tax levy. This is according to Kevin Drum's table, which shows the 15 significant tax increases since 1950. Sources prove that Obamacare is neither unconstitutional nor likely to be job killing. You believe all that you read? The CBO says their original numbers were off and the costs over 10 years will bankrupt us unless taxes are raised substantially or doctors provide services for free. Which do you think will happen? We're screwed and idiots are happy.

It may not be the largest.but it sets a terrible precedence. For the first time in our history your being penalized for NOT buying a product.

Won't you be penalized if driving your car without purchasing an insurance??
In some states / provinces one would go to jail for that...
Report as
States don't have the IRS doing the enforcing and the laws coming that everyone must carry car insurance.
Report as
That's different. There's NO LAW forcing you to drive a car. Driving is a privilege, not an entitlement.
Report as
So, I guess it must be an entitlement to seek hospital care when refusing to buy a medical coverage and expect someone else to pay for the care??
Report as
It's makes no difference. The precedence has been set. The government can force you to buy anything they see fit and use the IRS to impose penalties if you don't. If you dont believe it look at what the supreme court said. You can be taxed for NOT buying health insurance. Do you get it. You being TAXED because you chose NOT to buy something. That can apply to anything some legislator thinks. It's mind boggling of all the things could happen.

There must be thousand things the goverment imposes on us. Do you get it?
What's wrong accepting one more? Universal med. ins. is good in most countries where it was established!. Looks like many people are 'brainwashed' by insurance companies who will loose some of their profirs...

It's so true that the government imposes many things on us. They want people to stop smoking so they impose a tax on cigarettes. Only the people that buy cigarettes pay that tax. Not everyone. In this thread there is talk of car insurance. If some politician decides its beneficial that everyone has car insurance but not everyone can afford it so they can pass a law that everyone must carry car insurance. It's does not matter that you don't drive, your a passenger in some type on vehicle. So you must have car insurance and if you don't you will pay a tax for thoes that can't afford car insurance. This is just one example. How about health clubs? It's beneficial to exercise. How about everyone has to pay a tax so that everyone has a health club membership at golds gym. The list goes on and on. The door has been opened and politicians are always looking for new ways to tax.

Since the Supreme Court called the mandate a tax. Plus there a total of 21 new taxes in this nothing to do with health care law. Don't let the Obama lovers who want government to take care of them at a loss to all our liberties fool you with their twisting of facts. Do your own homework.
As far as "freeloaders" go, you will find many people protesting this mandate by refusing to participate.

Omg you're confused. Yes it's a tax. Yes you will be fined for not purchasing it. No, it will NOT be affordable. Yes, it is unconstitutional. Who do you think decides if you can afford it or not? If you're single, it's going to cost you a MINIMUM of $90.00/week according to their lie. It's actually expected to be closer to double or more. So, you got your checkbook ready?
also. have you ever seen the government, or much less , Obama run anything efficiently? Medicare, social security, welfare, the postal service...... all broke... now you think this putz can run an entire nations healthcare? omg... quit watching CNN and learn to think things like this out for yourself.

Every Canadian I know love their health care system... and actually a general health coverage works well in most industrial countries..and yes, it is mandatory there, no "free loaders"..
Report as
And if they have money they come to America to get their health care in a timely manner. The Canadians I know hate their system even if it is "free".
Report as
If Canadians love their health care so much why do they come to the u.s for care? Because the government denies them care when they need it.
