Should I find my brother?

Please no rude responses, its taking alot for me to ask this.
My brother has been in and out of my life ever since I could remember. He is 6 years older then me. Shawn has I guess you could call it a love for trouble. He loves city's and has been in and out of jail and the streets over and over again. Always for little crimes, missing his probation, fights and his most common stealing. He has stolen from my parents and our church, these are the only ones that I am aware of. We always got along very well,we have a lot in common,my mom use to call me Shawn Jr. I will always love my brother. The last time I talked to Shawn was approx. 2 1/2 years ago. He called from rehab, saying that he missed us and in order for him to pass his course, he needed to contact his family and ask for forgiveness. I forgave him right away, but my mom pretty much gave up on him a long time ago. I called him a couple of days later to see how he was, he told me he would call as soon as he could. So I patiently waited, about a month later I called the rehab, they politely informed me he was no longer there. I am worried that if I find him he will steal from my boyfriend and I and disappear again.

You just should start off contacting him and seeing if you can trust him. Then, you can see him outside your house so he doesn't steal anything. Then, when you feel comfortable invite him over and start to rebuild the relationship.

You should find him but not to bring him into your life. You new to find him and tell him that unless he cleans up his act you will keep in touch but not want him completely in your life. Family should always be loved and care for so you should make sure he gets help but don't go too far. I hope I could help and just as you did tell him he needs to reach out for help:)

Yes find him make sure he is alright. It will give you a peace of mind. Of course you love him, but it doesn't mean he is good for you. People that ate potential harmful to me I keep them at a distance.

I think you should definitely try to find him, at very least just find his whereabouts, I understand that hi past has created huge trust issues for everyone involved but honestly for me I just couldn't take the not knowing part. I'm sure in his moments of clarity he probably feels very alone and thrown away by his family because of his past, all of those issues are sure to play a factor in his emotional state. You should at least work on finding him and if you do just let him know you still care, maybe even lie to him and let him think that mom is concerned and encourage him to make the first move to contact her. Family is family regardless. We all have our issues.

I could personally never turn my back on my brother. I understand the trust issues he has repeatedly broken, and can understand how you must feel. He's still your brother though... Let him know you still love him.
