How can Genesis 30:37-43 be explained?

In Genesis 30:37-43, Jacob used a process that's known in science as Genetics or more like it. In the true sense of the science of Genetics, it cannot be done though, and even modern Genetics has not yet reached its research and study to a point to accomplish what Jacob did. If so, what can be the possible explanation to this?

Interesting question. We may not know. But consider what we do know. Jacob had the blessing of God on him, in part through Abraham and Isaac; but also directly to him. God's blessing can be spiritual and/or material. In the OT it was often material. See how God blessed David, Daniel and others. And we know Laban had cheated Jacob, unsuccessfully. We don't know that God told Jacob to perform any stick tricks. And apparently Laban's shepherds could not duplicate it, or they would have. This can only be the sovereign hand of blessing on Jacob; and not even Laban his boss could thwart God's blessing. A great source of peace to God's people.

Certain sites or smells encourage mating amongst all species. Jacob as a professional shepherd knew the stimuli that caused sheep to mate. When sheep were around that he wanted to mate, he exposed them to the stimuli. When sheep came around he didn't want to mate, he removed the stimuli. It's a simple trick anyone who practices the trade can learn and do to manipulate natural outcomes.

The stimuli for mating is not the question here, it's the outcome of the offspring which copied the physical body pattern of the sticks that were stuck on the feeding through. Even now, there is still no known genetic procedure that can accomplish what Jacob did.

They copied their parents. This is why later in the story when Laban complains Jacob starts doing this with the opposite types of sheep and gets the same opposite results. (I.e. speckled make speckled.)

I am no theologian, nor scientist, thus I still have much to study. But if we take the literal translation, instead of the meaning behind it, we assume we can examine a couple things. First, we have spotted sheep
.
http://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jacob_(sheep)
.
So now we must figure out were they come from. Again let's assume a literal translation. Just because we have failed to produce the same outcome doesn't mean it didn't happen. The term battery was coined until the 1700, but we have found evidence of a batteries that date back to 200 BC. So what happened to this information during the medieval ages. Let's also examine steam power. It was first utilized in the 1st century, but then it does start being used until the 12th century. What happened to it, for it to take 11 centuries to be used? Even now, we can not find antimatter, or dark matter, and these two components are crucial to the big bang theory, but we do not dismiss this theory just because we can not find these two crucial components. My point, we do not have all the answers, yet. We are to continue to look for them. But it is funny, how people want to dismiss the Bible because we don't have an understanding of how, at the same time use our understanding to dismiss God's existence. But again, this is if you wetting to take this account literally. Also, I do want to admit my understanding is limited as I am no theologian nor scientist. God bless

God.
Laban had cheated Jacob often but J was blessed by God and Laban saw it and didnt want to let him leave with what was rightfully his so God gave J inspiration to make a particular pact with Laban and a way to make it work in his favor so Laban would be anxious to get rid of him.
Besides even tho people before the modern age didnt know words like 'science' or 'genetics' doesnt meant they didnt understand the processes. Its pretty much a given that sheep farmers of all times knew A LOT about genetics and cross breeding (in their own way) to get the best and strongest.
