Try to micromanage each essay and assignment. Forget about how hard it was last time because this is how you will become fatigued and lazy. Set a Drop Day say a month from now, and really give it every think till then. Study with friends, alone, with a parent, whatever it takes to really drive you home. If your grades improve and you learn to get through the tough stuff, great! If not and you're not getting anywhere, feeling frustrated, and drug down, consider dropping the class. It's just plain bad vibe. But often after gritting your teeth through a few weeks of tough, you'll find yourself getting used to the new workload.
God Bless.
