Do fleas go on your mattress so just on your sheets?

because I found out my cat has fleas and she used to sleep on my bed. I'm taking care of my blankets and sheets but should I worry about my mattress?

How do I get into the mattress
Report as
My husband used to be in pest control. The best thing you can do is go to Walmart or home depot and buy a bottle of malathion and a sprayer. Mix it a bit stringer than called for, open the windows, remove the pets and spray the whole room, take the mattress off the bed and spray the box springs, carpet, drapes and clothes. Of course you will then have to wash your clothes and bedding but it beats fleas. Depending on how long they have been in the house you may have to repeat due to new hatchlings.

I would clean it up and get it sprayed. Rather be safe than sorry. :D

On the hot sunny day take your mattress out set it somewhere high above the ground 2 or 3 ft and dry it under the sun for couple hours. The heat from the sun will kill them.

The short answer is Yes. Go to your local Home and Garden store and buy diatomaceous earth (not the kind for cleaning swimming pools). Rub the white powder into your mattress generously. It is made from microscopic shellfish fragments which will kill flea larvae and it also helps with bedbugs and almost every kind of parasite that lives and breeds outside your body.

P.S. Flea eggs can remain dormant for 2 years, so be sure and wash EVERYTHING you own.

Yes, but you don't need to make such a big deal out of it, because fleas can't harm you, but if they keep you awake, and you constantly keep getting bit, than you should probably get some help on that, at least that's what I suggest, but I'm no expert!
