it's 32 becasue if it's 5 or higher you round the number up, if it's 4 or lower it stays the same. so that's why 31.5 rounds up to 32

You already have it rounded to the nearest tenth. a tenth is the first number after the decimal point

.5 is half way so you can round up or down and be equally right mathematically. Most people will round up as a rule for consistency.

It stays the same because to round this decimal you add zeros and it becomes 31.50 since you have to look back at the hundredths place it tells the 5 it stays the same. So the answer is 31.5 or 31.50

You must have a number behind the five.....which you actually do... It's a zero . So 5 stays 5. 31.5

you can't round it to the nearest tenth because to round a number there has to be a number before it. also if the number before it is 1 through 4 than the first number would stay the same, if the previous number is between 5 and 9 then the first number is rounded up one. meaning you can't round to the nearest tenth when the last digit in the number is tenths

to the nearest 10TH ( ! ) it's still 31.5, rounding it to the nearest whole number would be 32

To the nearest TENTH is 31.5, as 0.5 is five tenths.
