Eat less junk,and snack foods...stay away from fat foods!! Eat less calories and exercise daily(if u enjoy eating meat there's actually a meat diet I don't really know the details but I'm pretty sure u can look it up..my aunt went on that diet and she lost a LOT of weight)
The best way is to be committed to eating smaller portions of food less frequently. That's not being sarcastic. Just think about why you are tackling this. I resemble this question! and oh yes---- some regular exercise at least 3 days a week. Make it aerobic exercise.
