What to do with a dog I found?

I called a pet adoption agency in the area but they won't take him. I've called the shelter and left a message but they won't call me back... an I allowed to just drop him off at my local shelter? what should i do? I'm at work and w close at 5. I can't take him home or leave him here. and I'd feel awful if I left him outside.

Advertise in the local news paper .. on line lost and found .. keep trying the shelter .. take him to local vet offices to see they recognize him ... find someone who can foster him (if you can't) until you can find him a home .. Do what you can to keep him off the streets to fend for himself.

I don't see why you can't bring him home. But I am sure that the local shelter would take him if you brought him to them.

Put up "found dog" posters with a phone number and picture or description of the dog in front of stores and mailboxes and parks. Give it a few days, then send him to the pound. People that lose pets can call the pound to relocate their pet. The pound also can work as a lost and found.
