I have a cold sore please tell me how to get rid of them without the medicines is there anything else and how do you prevent them.

You can use mouth wash that contains baking soda to soothe your mouth, place a cool or wet towel on the sores thrice a day and avoid any foods that contain acid in them. You can prevent cold sores by not sharing items like lip balm with someone who has sores, avoid contact with people who have cold sores and apply sunscreen to your face and lips when in the sun for long. My daughter got cold sores a lot, so I did some research and found cold sores are a member of the herpes family. I put my daughter on L-Lysine and marigold supplements anytime she thought she was getting one and we used L-Lysine and marigold ointment on the sores. They say L-lysine inhibits herpes virus. It worked great for her. Good luck! : D

If you hold an ice cube on the spot when you first can tell you're getting one it usually stops it from developing.
