I think my 7 year old sister is anorexic? ):

She barely eats a thing, in fact I have to spend hours each night trying to convince her to take a bite of something. This sort of started when she was skipping lunch at school because she has nobody to sit with and is very shy. Now she refuses to eat! I'm really worried about her, she is only 7 and I'm very close with her. How do I help her? Is it ok to say ' I think you're anorexic'? Or is that too offensive? She also doesn't speak to anybody besides me and occasionally our mom. Also, I kinda am anorexic too, I started out on the same path as her...
I need to help her! ): I have no idea what to do!

If she is only seven i think trying to scare her in the ways people suggested in the previous comments may not be the best bet. I also have a seven year old sister and i know that scaring her in an already stressfull situation would only make things much much worse. Talk about it with your mom or even a docter. You should try asking her why she is feeling so upset, she could be stressed about a number of things and is feeling sad. I think trying to work things out in a positive way would work much better than trying to scare her. I hope i helped :)
Also i totally agree with NorahKee88
Sorry this has been so long. hope i helped :)

In my opinion, the best thing you can do for her is talk to her more often. Teach her ways of making friends that she can sit with during lunch. You can tell her some of the effects of not eating and what it can do to her. Encourage her to be social.

yes she may be suffering anorexia because that's how it was for me a few years ago um what my friends did was they made sure someone was with me at all times so i would eat and so that i wouldnt throw it up (i also had bulimia) but for your sister ask her if she loves you and her life. if she says yes then say that she has to eat other wise she could die and that you dont want her to die because you love her hope i helped any im not sure if i did :/ sorry if i didnt

Get your parents to :Go to the Around the Dinner Table forum for parents of children with anorexia and other eating disorders: http://www.aroundthedinnertable.org. Join the forum and ask all of your questions there--all questions welcome. It's a great group of parents. You as a sister also can join and post your questions there.

Also, go to the web pages by F.E.A.S.T. and to MaudsleyParents.org.

Read "Brave Girl Eating" and Lock & LeGrange's book "Help your teenager beat an eating disorder" (yes, it is about teenagers, but it is still very helpful.)

I have a 7 year old with anorexia. I have found tremendous help through these resources. My daughter is back up to a healthy weight and is mentally much improved also. We still have a long way to go, but I am very grateful for all of the help I have received.
