Why are birds warm-blooded and reptiles cold-blooded if they are related?

Scientists claim birds and reptiles are related, but if they are, why are birds warm-blooded and reptiles cold-blooded? Please help.

Actually they longer claim they are closely related. Birds are believed to be more closely related to dinosaurs than to reptiles. Evidence indicates that many dinosaurs were warm blooded and that some evolved to have feathers, and eventually, the smaller ones gained flight.

no, actually they were not.... that is OLD science.. new evidence shows they were *not* reptiles... not all of them anyway certainly there were large reptilians that lived at the same time as dinosaurs such as mega crocodiles etc.. but actual Dinosaurs are now believed to have been warm blooded, which makes them different than actual reptiles
