The Bible teaches that happiness is fleeting because it often depends on things outside of ourselves, but true joy is eternal because it is based on our relationship with Jesus Christ, which is itself an everlasting source of joy.
"God cannot give us a happiness and peace apart from Himself, because it is not there. There is no such thing".
C.S. Lewis

Well one day somebody told somebody the lord hates you if you dont donate one dollar. so they made a church and are still scaming the world. stupied people
Religious people seem to be happier, because they believe in something. When you believe that something good will happen, it always does. Due to their belief, they are able to face challenges and many life hardships.
Well; some people are sad, because they think that nothing good is going happen before they pass on. And other people believe that life doesn't at death; and that for the rest of eternity is going to be spent in happiness.
Of course I could be wrong.
Greenie!
I'm a Christian and don't call myself "religious". I have been through a lot in life and sometimes it is really hard to be happy but the Lord helps to give me peace. If you believe in Him, he will help give you an inner peace despite whatever struggles you are going through. He loves you and wants to make you happy.
I disagree with a couple of the people above me. I not only believe but am sure I am going to live in Heaven after death. I don't try to make people believe in God. But I'm just saying that God will change your life. There IS definitely a reason why Christians are happier. :)
Greenie!
I think it has to do with several things -- people need to feel connected and loved; being part of a faith community is a good way to do that. People need something bigger than just themselves to believe in and to work toward the common good. Some people find those things in their jobs or families, but I think those who get these needs filled through a faith community gain more satisfaction over the long term.
Of course, having a faith and being part of a faith community doesn't mean that everything is perfect; there definitely are still problems, but my faith helps me look at the problems in a different way.
Because GOD is AWSOME !!!!
My work here is done
(((Profound inner peace)))=======================================Therefore being justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ: By whom also we have access by faith into this grace wherein we stand, and rejoice in hope of the glory of God. And not only so, but we glory in tribulations also: knowing that tribulation worketh patience; And patience, experience; and experience, hope: And hope maketh not ashamed; because the love of God is shed abroad in our hearts by the Holy Ghost which is given unto us. (Romans 5:1-5 KJV)
Greenie and Howdy!
Because they simply have a mask on the truth. The people who know that religion was only created to make people do what is morally right may seem not as happy because they know that when you die, your "spirit" dies. I know that religion is false. Actually most religions are just rewritten religions. There is proof! Still, there is nothing wrong with having faith in religion. Doesn't make you bad, just dumb. But if you allow yourself to be dumb, you can be happy too. I'm actually a very happy person and I'm agnostic. I don't know what to believe but I do know that believing in "God" is a totally different thing than religion. All religions are man made ideas to get people to follow rules.
Because no matter what they believe, it gives reason to life, challenges, etc. Being religious does not mean your Christian or any other religion (even atheist). It means you live by what you believe. By living by what you believe it gives a sense of fulfillment and purpose to living. This simply is a satisfaction to people, inevitably bringing a sense of "happiness". Those who don't believe in anything or are questioning what they themselves believe often feel lost, or unsure of life. This quizzical nature is often seen as unhappy behavior.
What's that old saying?... Ignorance is bliss?
Augustine
I'm a Christian and I think Christians ate happier because we serve and awesome God ! And God is full of love and joy and peace and the Bible says to be uplifting and to not be mad !
Asylum ignorante. People who are on drugs seem to be happy too. It doesn't mean it good to be on drugs. I agree religion can give you comfort. Any religion. It doesn't mean Christianity is right though
The love of Jesus in them.
It is written:
Matthew 22:37-39
Jesus said unto him, thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with thy soul, and with all thy mind.
This is the first and great commandment.
And the second is like unto it, thou shalt love thy neighbour as thuself.
Because when one sincerely has a repentant heart and realizes that God is drawing them to repentence and they do come to Him, by His Spirit, He comes and dwells within their heart. One of the fruits or characteristics of God is Joy. That Joy lives within the christian. Of course, we are human still and do get sad at times and such, but we can call on God in faith, and the Joy within, which Is Him, becomes evident as God draws nigh to us, as well in that moment. His Peace is within also and that is another thing that christians experience through salvation. It's a peace that surpasses just the regular peace of mind that we can, at times, normally experience.
Greenie for such beautiful words. :)
We have something to look forward to. Most religions have an afterlife. Also, having people who believe the same things as you makes people feel secure.
In one word - Christ.
(That is :
Hope.
Love.
Peace.
Expectations.
and so Much more!)
Saying religious people are happier than the non-religious is like saying that a drunken man is happier than a sober one. Pretending to be happy in gatherings to up the ante or to propagate, is not the same as being truly happy.
Well, I'm a follower of Jesus Christ, and I have found more in Him than I could have ever dreamed of. He's given me the greatest love, joy, peace, and freedom. He's the love of my life. He's really amazing, and there's no one who I'd rather be friends with than Jesus. He actually died so that we could live. He laid His body down and gave His blood as the Perfect Sacrifice. There's no love greater than the love of Jesus. He's all that I'll ever need. :)
John 8:32 holds the answer for me. It is freedom that makes me happy
