Is usaa insurance fair on price quoted (market value for your area) for a totaled vehicle? or will they try to give a low-ball offer?
tree fell on 2008 yaris in apartment parking lot during high winds/rain storm while me and husband were out. called usaa insurance and they claimed it first as fixable (even though they towed it to a salvage yard-both usaa and salvage yard lied about it being an inspection station as well, then back tracked their answer later) i asked what the damages were and claims adjuster could not tell me because he told me a mechanic never looked at it. i then asked him how he knew how it had any frame damage or if the mechanic aspects were okay...had foot of water in it, busted frame, all windows busted, stearing column busted down/twisted with electrical exposed to rain. after i explained this to him and got him to speak to my husband within 30 minutes he stated it was a total loss. now i'm waiting for figures. i'm worried with problems earlier he will try to low-ball us big time. but i did my research. i'm nervous i will have to spend time and money getting a lawyer. what has everyone else experienced with usaa? do you think they will offer us an okay deal. i've come to fair market value on kbb and compared dealership prices on 2008 yaris and came to about 10,500 with my milage/options.
