Should I ignore my friends for a little while?

I love my best friend, but she can be really negative at times. She snaps at me for no reasons, gets in weird moods, complains about things everyday and it really brings me down. Sometimes she'll be really rude to me for no reason and it's annoying. I'm in treatment for an eating disorder and depression but she doesn't know anything about that. I feel like talking/texting her doesn't really help my recovery at all because she's always talking about how horrible her life apparently is. I know this is selfish, but I really want to just shut my phone off and not talk to my friends for a few weeks so I can focus on treatment and everything. I'm also going on vacation in a week, and I want to surround myself with positive things and try and find new friends that are supportive and optimistic. Am I selfish/rude to do this to them?

I do not think it's a good to ignore your friends in the name of concentrating on treatment. Talking to friends helps one in quick recovery. As for your best friend, you need to talk to her and make her understand that there are things you don't appreciate from her. This can make her change and improve your friendship.

If she's making treatment difficult, you should ignore her.
