Why don't the New York Yankees wear their names on the back of their uniforms?

I 've been a huge Yankees fan for years; Jeter and Granderson being my favorite players.

The New York Yankees don't have their names behind the jersey because, they practice equality in the team and that the team is not identified by one person. it is not about who is better than who but the fact that the team is identified as a whole. That was the reason behind that.

The Yankees realize that baseball is a team sport and value the importance of teamwork and unity. The club believes that by putting the names on the shirts you are placing unneccesary attention on individuals rather than the team as a whole.
