Before choosing the best console to purchase, you should consider the type of features that would suit you best. The three have different applications when it comes to playing games, and getting an overview on all of them would assist to decide on the most appropriate one to suit your needs.
When Wii came out it sparked a great deal of interest, unfortunately that interest was short lived. Right now it's really just your own preference & what you're comfortable with. I like the PS3 better, but my sons prefer the X-Box. Right now they're both trying to outdo 1 another, but I think that the PS3 loads faster, & has a better game catalog & I'm used to the controllers (the X box controllers are built better, but I'm not used to them). Like I said, they're so close that it's what floats your boat

Here's what I think. Xbox 360 is great if you want to play with friends. It has a great online system and majority of people are on it. The downside is it's expensive. PS3 has a better quality then the other 2 stations and in my opinion better controls. So if you like quality get a PS3. As for Wii, there isn't that much 3rd party support do you won't see some things that you can on a PS3/Xbox and the graphics aren't as great, but Nintendo makes a lot of great games for wii so it's still worth owning. Hope this helps! :)
