Is Facebook the worst platform ever for privacy? Study shows...

Some think it is some don't. Whats your view?

Report as

In my opinion, I don't think Facebook is the worst platform for privacy. This is because people give their opinion on Facebook, whether someone else likes it or not. However, it has privacy because someone can inbox someone else, which unless another person has your password, it cannot be read.

However what about some security holes where unwanted users can view someone's profile even when it is set to hidden? I have come across such reports...

Worst ever? I wouldn't say that.

Their problems have more to do with communication from FB to users, than any security problems within the system.

And when you look at most of the complaints, it's from people posting things they wouldn't say face-to-face. So it serves as a reminder that, if you wouldn't say it to the person ... don't post it online.

Read my reply to VMutable please. Yes people's views are thrown all over the place in FB, should Facebook implement a feature at the registration stage for users to choose what views they will expose? Should Facebook ban personal views?

Don't see how they would ban personal views (opinions) ... since their whole business is built on personal opinions.

There is a security setting already, that allows people to choose who they want to allow to see their posts. Everybody, Friends of friends, or Friends only.

I set it to "Friends only" because I don't want people I don't know ... even if they are friends of my friends ... to be able to access my opinions. I trust my friends not to use my comments against me - but they may have friends that are someone I'm commenting about.

well, people post things on there that are offensive, disgusting and just plain stupid. kids today are already losing their capablity to comunicate and I believe that FB makes it worse. at first I enjoyed it as i reconnected with some old school friends, lots of family, but then you have so many other idiots ruining the experience for everyone else. FB posts need to be monitored more stringently, get the minors off FB, quit changing the format every other day (yes, I exagerated). So many reasons..
