Shake the cat food bag, sometimes they will come running when they hear that sound.

Food is the happy equalizer for pets. Put some out and stay quiet. It will come out.

Or cat treats.

It's hiding. Look up. Then under stuff. Or just go home now because it clearly doesn't want to be watched at this time. Maybe it's taking care of some private things. Cats need privacy too.

Get a box of cat treats and walk around shaking it. and if that don't work try putting some tuna down somewhere where you don't step in it. If it disappears, then you know the cat is still o.k. and just likes to hide.

Get some catnip and put it on the floor. Should have a frisky cat within an hour.

If the food is disappearing; the cat is fine. Mine never make an appearance when someone else is in my home. Remember they are cats and fickle as can be.

Sit down and don't even THINK about the cat, after putting out a dish of food (Fancy Feast is usually irresistible to a cat, especially fishy flavored). The cat will likely at least come out and eat, so you'll know she's alright. If you do this often enough, she'll learn you're trustworthy.
