Unless you are acutely trained in body language, you CAN'T tell .. it's the same when a person in lying. You can't judge by whether or not they look confident or nervous (that only works in the movies) .. In reality, some people are masters of deception.
Sometimes you have to take a gamble and a leap of faith in what someone is telling you. If you have good instincts, it will turn out ok .. if you don't .. well, then .. not so much. That's the chance we take, everyday .. when ever we intermingle with others.
To know if someone is bluffing, first check if the person looks overly confident. Secondly, monitor the amount of talking the person does and check whether the person is nervous. Lastly, pay attention to the breathing patterns. Usually if the person is loud and boisterous, most probably the person is bluffing.
