I'm biased in that I don't believe in the supernatural - the religious indoctrination I was subjected to in my first 12 years of private education basically turned myself and quite a few others into science types - and there's no room for superstitious beliefs in science: the Islamic bag good, devout, Muslim women are often required to wear is designed to keep the evil woman from tempting males - and ward off other males lusting after the property of the owner male. Isn't it ironic that "heaven" for these devout males is filled with eager and willing virgins? Any culture / society / group that suppresses women and their personal rights, especially in deference to man made dictates, conveniently authorized by religion, will always prove to be culturally deficient in some way. This fear of women's sexuality is not limited to devout Muslim men, it's present in other mainstream religion - except the suppression of females is not so obvious as a cloth bag - that looks like a bee-keeper's uniform.
Im against the black burqaa. Can you imagine how hot and miserable they must be? If you HAVE to be covered head to foot then light colors like cream and yellow should be allowed. Here in the US i dont think they should be allowed in public because they are too dangerous. Anyone can hide under a burqaa.
I'm against them in certain situations. Like when the lady was getting a picture taken for her drivers license and was trying to wear it. The point of the license is for identification. You don't want up show your face you shouldn't be trying to get a license. I understand the religious reason behind making women wear the outfit but I guess I just don't understand the reasoning.
