Speaking only for myself here, but when both of our kids were about 9 months old or so we started them on whatever we were eating at the table, for the most part. Obviously we took care to cut up meats and veggies as small as possible, along with whatever other foods might need special handling to avoid choking. But the key is that once baby food was done, the kids ate what we ate. We choose what they eat, and they choose how much they eat. The result now is a couple of kids who are very well-rounded eaters and like a whole bunch of different foods because they saw us my lovely wife and me and enjoying them.

Many experts say that your baby will let you know when it's time for real food, and unless your specific pediatrician tells you otherwise, I'd say your baby is letting you know. Have fun!

It's time to let him eat food. My little cousin eats food like tortilla and bread and chips!

My 18 mo granddaughter would not eat baby food at 10 months. Try mashed potatoes, veggies, fruit, eggs. All cut small or mashed up

Chips, green beans, meat sticks you can buy at the store, and any easy fruit.

I had to be very careful about chips. They're easy for little ones to choke on.

Hi. sounds like your little one is telling you that he is ready to retire the pureed food. it is very common and normal at his age. cut everything into small bits and watch for choking. let him hand feed himself, and if you want, give him a toddler friendly spoon for applesauce, etc. for foods he has never had before: try only one different one a week, so if he has an allergic reaction it will be easy to pinpoint what he reacted to. if you haven't already, its also a good time, while he's feeding himself, to introduce a sippy cup. if you are not starting milk yet, that's fine, put water in it. expect throwing of the food, spoon and cup! they seem to think its a great game! good luck and have fun!

Babies of that age are ready for essentially anything soft-ish cut up into tiny pieces. Peas, beans, other veggies, fruts little pieces of meat, theyre pretty much ready for it all!

Hello again youngn! :). My daughter loved sweet potatoes at that age! Mashed or just cut into bite size bits. Rice, pasta, mashed potatoes and squash casserole were some of her faves! The thinly sliced deli style turkey meat was a hit too! :)
