What's a good hair damage control shampoo?

I want to make sure my hair doesn't become damaged from my straightener so anything you recommend? :)

A good hair damage control shampoo is the Aveda Damage Remedy Structuring Shampoo. This product has the right ingredients and is mostly used to make the hair rigid. Other good shampoos are Herbal Essences Color Me, Redken Real Control Shampoo and Dove Advanced Color Care. I would actually just go for a heat damage preventing spray, that you put on after you shower, before you use the straightener. John Frieda has a good one.

There are a lot of products that promise all kinds of wondrous effects .. but the truth of the matter is .. extreme heat is very damaging to hair .. There is no product that will prevent damage .. If there were, you could put it on your skin and place your iron directly on that spot and it would not heat the surface to the point of burning. Now we both know, that would not prevent a burn to your skin .. so the same principle applies to hair. The heat boils the moisture in the hair shaft .. that's why you see steam. That's why there it is so damaging to hair.

There are products that can coat the hair to minimize damage, but rest assured, it does not protect the hair 100%...nothing will.
