4 tires. 2 good, 2 not so good. Considering control of vehicle after blowout, do the 2 good tires go in front or back?
Definite answers plz!

this is a very serious safety question. I'm getting answers supporting both. I'm looking for answers from people that know for sure. Not that it matters, but my car is a 2001 Chevy Blazer 2wd. (rear drive)

back because the front tires have the power and the backtires just follow behind

Sorry, but your wrong, has nothing to do with power, it's a controll thing, if you blow out on the front , u lose controll, and can flip, ect. I you blow on the back, u still have controll of the car.

The blazer is a rear wheel drive vehicle.. Which means the rear wheels have the power, not the front.

I feel the same as you about control ironworker but am getting different feedback, some from mechanics. Cannot get definitive answers.

This may sound dumb but .. in reality, you should have ALL good tires. Doesn't matter if you have a front wheel or back wheel drive vehicle, your front wheels are your primary control mechanism because they control all the steering AND half of the braking. The only difference between front wheel drive and rear wheel drive is which set pulls or propels you.

You are taking a chance on your safety and the safety of everyone around you if you do not have proper tires on your car. Get your tread measured and the tires inspected, and don't gamble with your life or the lives of the people you might slam into in the event you have a blow out on the highway or freeway.

Agreed. Tires aren't shot yet. Had four good ones. Had some suspension work at the dealer. They never did an alignment afterwards so I started losing just the outermost tread on a five tread wide tire. The other four are still like new. Crazy right? So, I went and got an alignment now they're wearing evenly. I put the good ones up front and the worn ones in back. I will be getting new tires when I am able, but as you know, times are rough. Thanks!

That sounds quite reasonable .. there might very well be some good wear left .. just use common sense .. that's all I ask! LOL .. Good luck.
