Having tubes tied after delivery of my son, read description

I'm sure most of the people on here are young, but are there any mommies out there who have gotten their tubes tied after delivery? pain scale 1-10? I gave birth to my daughter and I was fine the next day... I was curious about how much more pain and hindrance it would put on my body... good idea or bad? I got the option of getting them tied after delivery or 6 weeks later and I would rather take all the pain at once

It will be more affective if you wait 6 weeks. My doctor tried telling me this but I still had it done right after delivery. It didn't really affect me pain wise. It's been 7 years and I haven't gotten pregnant. But I really would like one more child. So please wait 6 weeks and make sure 100%.

After delivery, your uterus and tubes will be swollen. It's best to wait until swelling goes down to tie and cut the tubes. All they will do is put an incision through your belly button, go through it to tie your tubes. It's nothing at all and just a little sore. They did the same when they had to go in and check mine for cysts. I had a dnc and cancer cells removed off my cervix along with that surgery. I had it done on a Friday and went back to work on a monday. So it's not that bad. It's best to wait for the swelling to go down before tying the tubes, also it will be more effective. Your doctor will even tell you this.

I had my tubes tied immediately after my daughter was born, while I still had the epidural. My doc said go for it, so I did! For me, the pain from the tubal was worse than recovering from giving birth! Very sore, which made it difficult to hold my daughter for a few days.
(of course I was 40 when she was born, so it wasn't like I was going to decide later that I wanted another child!)
