Try recipes for rice and beans, there are different variations on how you season the beans and try brown or white rice..delicious, cheap and healthy, can try black beans, red beans, pinto etc...I would just do a search for recipes for "rice and beans" and see what you come up with.
i love to use spinach a lot it is cheep and can be use in a lot of different ways, simple spinach salad with strawberry and apples and celery or a stir fry with cherry tomatoes, sweet potato(boil a little first), spinach, olive oil and noodles. or on rice cracker with tomato and cracked black pepper.
chicken salad. Buy a bag of chicken tenders or breasts, but bread crumbs, and either a head of lettuce or salad in a bag. Dip chicken breast in egg or milk then in bread crumbs place in pan with a little oil and cook then either tear up lettuce or place salad in a bag in bowl and mix with chicken. You can add any fresh veggies or egg to it. If you don't want to cook chicken that way then grill it.
Salads w/ little dressing, fresh vegetables, lot's of water, fresh fruits. You can buy the fruits/vegs at a fruit stand or the flea market. Spaghetti w/ tomato sauce with lot's of veggies; Lean meats not cooked in grease. We grill a lot; uses less energy outside; the microwave is a good source for fish.
You can buy some kale, salmon, and a yam. Just cook the fish in a pan until it isn't raw, and sprinkle some pepper on it. The yam you just put in the microwave for about a minute. The kale you rip the green part off the stem and put it in a pot of boiling water with some garlic.

cabbage onion carots potatoes whole butter chicken granules[bullion] water. Put in amounts according to number of people eating. Cook at least an hour ,then check. About 2 tablespoons of granules, and two tablespoons butter.
There are many recipes out there for the different types of pastas around. Pastas are very inexpensive and come in large amounts. You can purchase a pack/box of pasta at a store for less than a dollar. One pack/box is usually enough to feed 2-4 people. Look for deals on meats such as a ground turkey....I've been able to purchase 2 lbs of ground turkey for about 4 dollars which is a great price in my opinion. Goodluck
