Do you have to be out of school to be a cop, or just 18?

There was a kid my senior year in high school who was somehow involved with the police. I'm not sure if he was a full-fledged cop yet but he had attended the police academy. Do police have a program similar to R.O.T.C.?

There are police depts. that have something called junior officers or something similar. They usually help out the police with non-violent related things.

That's probably it. I just know he could sometimes get a speeding ticket fixed for you. A guy like that is handy to know. Especially in a small town where the police have nothing better to do than hand out speeding tickets.

Even in t he suburbs of big cities, those cops have nothing to do but hand out tickets. Especially in tough economic times.

Most police forces will require you to have at least two years of college or military service.
