Depends on how one defines "day". People or God (If you believe, not raging please).

:p

Wat do u mean not 24 ?? Isnt it 24 hors in a day ?

Report as

How do you define a "day"? In man's terms or God's? (No Raging Allowed) A light year is not the same as an annual year which varies from planet to planet. Clarify please.

Report as
A light year is simply the distance light can travel in one earth year (365 days). It is a measurement of distance, not time. As far as I'm aware no one has tried to base a calendar system off a distance measurement, just throwing that out there.
Report as
Time and distance. Albert Einstein theorized: If one could go the speed of light, time would stop. If one could go faster than the speed of light, time would go backward.

Time, Time, Time is on my side. Yes, it is. (Old song, Old school of thought.) Have a great life!:)

Report as
No only 11 hrs 56 mins

If you are talking of length of day(light) it varies by time of the year, latitude (place your are upon the earth), etc.
And that is if you are talking about the earth - if you talking about a different planet or star, then there other factors that come into effect. To be more specific in the answer, the question has to be more specific : )
Generally, you could say a day is the time period of rotation on the body you are speaking of, but other factors still come into effect.

Report as

Well I think to 4am to 8 am

Report as

23 hrs 56 mins

23hr 56min 4sec so ha! It's right

Report as
How ?? Can u plz explain it?
Report as
In guessing people say 24 hr is because that's rounded and every day is getting shorter than the previous day by I think 500th if a second or 13sec a century do you get it
Report as
Im sure a couple of you people who got it RIGHT (this guy) might have looked it up on the computer! Not saying they did, not saying they didn't.

So you are talking of a sidereal day which is 23 hours 56 minutes 4.1 seconds (rounded off).
The mean solar day is 24 hours 3 minutes 56.555 seconds. (And then there's the apparent solar day which can be up to 20 seconds shorter or 30 seconds longer than a mean solar day.)
Report as

oh wow is 24 hrs and 1/4
