Why is my father so mean and lazy?

I do something (clean up my room) and a few weeks later it gets dirty again. my dad screams and hollers for me to get it done for our new air conditioner, and the cycle starts again.

Why can't you just keep it clean all of the time? Why let it get so dirty that your dad has to yell at you?

Your father is only trying to make you a responsible person. He needs you to be able to tell when the room is dirty without him having to tell you and that's why he yells at you. You can make a schedule through which you can be washing it like once or twice in a week.

Like Homer in The Simpsons? lol JK. If you don't motivate the person into doing anything, and rather than doing what they feel like to do, then they could be lazy.

Ok your dad is mean and lazy because he yells that your room is messy. Maybe try cleaning it more than every few weeks and he won't have a reason to yell. Also if you're only cleaning it after he yells at you it shows you have no discipline or motivation to clean up after yourself. Maybe he's not the lazy one here. You live under his roof that he has to work for, most parents who work all day don't really enjoy coming home to trashed house especially when the kids are usually around the house more and have NO RESPONSIBILITIES!

Laughing...! shadowshudder, I am so messy most of the time that I have to clean &/or tidy my entire home almost every day. You, having to clean one room, your personal space, once every few weeks is not that bad, trust me. Your dad is not being unreasonable, I promise. Wait until you get older & have your own place to maintain. Yeah, the endless cycle never ends. It's tiring. Unless you get a maid. (You should do that - would crack your dad up. Hire a friend to clean your room! :0)

Funny how teaching responsibility is interpretted as punishment or being mean these days. As you have made clear in your answer, one day this person will have to be cleaning their own apartment or house, not just one room :)

Sometimes us parents are under a lot of stress and we feel that we should not have to tell you to clean your room, but I have a preteen boy and clean is not his best trait, so I try to make sure he keeps it decent. so just put your dirty clothes in a spot ( not on floor) and throw your trash away every other nite, and keep dirty dishes out of there your good
