What does this mean to you?

I think the statement means that for one to understand the content in the book, he or she needs to read in between the lines. You need to understand what each sentence means so that you can get an idea of what you are reading and how important it is.

To me it means you should pretend to be investigating while reading as that what you are investigating so learn to read between the lines, read back if you must, if you dont understand question (like you are now!!)

And to complete my friends, you have to continuously contrast what has been said with what is being, so as to fully grasp the idea.(BTW, the text rings a bell. Isn't the book you're studying Report Writing, by John Bowden?)

What it means to me is that you must get thoroughly involved in the thing that you are reading to understand it.
