Hit n run minor fenderbender by 1 neighbor across the street witnessed by 2nd neighbor but no licence plate# documented during police report
I live in Houston, Texas. Last Sunday a neighbor witnessed another neighbor hit my truck. She didnt get a plate number to give to the police for their report at the time. She did say she saw damage to the neighbors car though. Monday evening on her way home from work, my wife saw the neighbors car in their garage when she got home, but the bumper looked fine...nothing like I would have expected to see...like the neighbor had gotten it repaired or a new one already or something. Friday I went to talk to her about it and she denied it, and added she wasnt home at that time and had a witness herself. I did write down her licence plate number as we spoke to give to the police and our insurance company. First off, will the police document a plate number after the original report was filed 5 days earlier. And secondly, can the insurance company search her plate number, without a VIN number too, when I give it to them, to sue her for hit and run for the damages they are gonna have to pay minus my deductible, to fix my truck?
