Horrible horrible! Need help. Betta fish dying!!!

ok I need to know what action to take. 3 fish have died I got from the pet store. I never in a million years had this problem. I have taken care of a big beautiful healthy betta for 2 years now same conditions and he is fine, I think it was the rocks. I used new pebbles. I washed them and did notice when I washed them all this dirt and stuff came off making the water cloudy, I did and never use soap cause of left over stuff it leaves that can kill a fish. so what do I do? number one I want healthy fish. will they refund me? it was a petco I believe or pets mart, both the same really. I believe they should pay for this. I need healhy fish and this is trauma let alone money. so don't know what to do. what can I use for the rank either thank rocks? so I don't have this happen. I will buy another fish but I believe they should pay for it. or exchange. don't have a recite and this is just a horrible experince. not ok for a pet store to murder fish. I don't care they cost 2$ they are alive and I care a lot for them

You can save your betta fish by noting the change in color of the scales and abnormal behavior. Test the water to determine if the water is the cause of the fish dying. The levels of ammonia, nitrate and nitrites in the water should be regulated because I believe you tank is cycled. If your tank is not cycled, purchase one that is cycled immediately and change your fish to the new one. This is because if all those chemicals are in the water, the water becomes too acidic ad the betta fish will die out of the acidity.

Anything I can do now. Pet stores are closed. Don't want to doing something too sudden and shock him more. Just makes me angry, makes me want to just save all tw fish from the store. I go in and mt heart breaks seeing the condition and what the fish are living in. It's torturing and killing a living thing
