What's the difference between 'you too' and 'me too'?

I have two short conversations like this: 'A: Nice to meet you. B: You too.' and 'C: Nice to meet you. D: Me too.' Which response above is correct - you too or me too? If both are acceptable, would you like to tell me the difference here?

The correct response is me too. It is used to show appreciation to the other person. If "you too" is used it will mean that the other person was pleased to meet you and not you yourself who was pleased.

If you are saying back that it was nice to meet them as well then "you too" that is the response I always use.

You too. Me too is saying that it is nice to meet yourself. =)
