I knew there was a reason I like you.

You made one error, Nafta. Most Fox on air personalities are "entertainers" and have no moral obligation to tell the truth. This includes Sean Hannity, Bill O Reilly, etc. So far as I know,NOT ONE of the WINGNUTS on talk radio is a journalist, so they have no problem with a lack of journalistic integrity. All Radio and TV stations are licensed every two years with the SOLE purpose "To serve the Public Interest>" The only two networks I know of that are true to this mission are PBS and C Span, and the "Tea Nuts" want to kill both of them.
Report as
Yeah, I prefer my news to be informative instead of a constant opinion filled rant :)
Report as
@MacGardner. Green! Although NAFTA never called them journalists. Don't know what you think his error was.

Why would Canada want some corporate owned propaganda machine cluttering up their airwaves. There is a limited amount of bandwidth available. In the United States, the people have always owned the airwaves, and the broadcasters must be re licensed every two years and are supposed to demonstrate that they are fulfilling their obligation to the people of the United States "To SERVE THE PUBLIC INTEREST." Running a few free commercials for starving orphans at 4 AM does NOT MEET THAT OBLIGATION. PBS and C Span serve the public interest, but the people who watch Fox regularly would like nothing more than to kill the only networks who are fulfilling their missions. However, having said that, Fox is SO BAD that they are in their own class, or lack of class. Non Partisan Politi Fact rates Fox as telling some type of LIE 80 percent of the time. Half truths are still LIES, outright lies are worse, but there is a special category called "Pants on Fire" which Fox owns the world record for telling. Michele Bachmann and Sarah Palin are even worse, with a truthful rating of below 5 percent. PolitiFact would like to sponsor a Presidential debate, and Obama's team is in favor of it, but Romney won't agree. He would have a huge problem. Their rules would allow them to bring up all the lies told by both candidates, and Romney doesn't want to be answering questions for 8 hours straight.
Report as
Who would the brainiacs be that made the decision to ban? What happens when the next time they don't agree with your point of view. Aren't we looking at censorship here ? That is if Canada really did ban Fox News which I doubt.
Report as
It's not point of view. They have a law in Canada that makes lying on broadcast a felony. In America you're allowed to, which we've learn from a lawsuit in which a local Fox News station won the case that allows them to lie on television.

Because it is so blatantly bias. Anyone with common sense would seek a better balance for their news. Fun fact: I just read your profile and you listed common sense and fact before propaganda as your area of expertise or interest. I read this after I answered your question, so what gives? is FOX news your sole source for facts? if so you may be in trouble, or at least damned to hell for all eternity. the last part I made up. it's not fact, it's a joke.

I am wondering why you feel that by liking Fox News that they are someone's only source of news. You must watch it yourself to know so much about it . If you think they spew some kind of drivel why do you seem so upset by them ? Are you afraid other people might actually believe what they hear on Fox? More people could turn out voting for Republicans. That would be a good thing.
Report as
Typical. Of corse I've seen FOX news, Rush, and Hannity ( spelling ). I like to hear both sides and form my own opinion. I'm crazy like that. You should try it instead of taking big brothers word for it. I have to admit some of the folks on the conservative side are entertaining if nothing else.

Because Fox News is so biased it must be labeled as satire. If it weren't on cable the FCC would do the same.

What's wrong with satire? Everyone is too serious nowadays .

That's the problem with FNC! Thanks!

Who cares? It's just fun to imagine that they are- and ought to be. It's a blast to imagine that there is at least one logical, reasonable country in the Western and Northern hemisphere.
Report as
Integer, I'm in agreement with you. I would say let's hear from some Canadians. Liberals here seem to have hatred and fear of Fox News. I don't hear a lot of mention of bias displayed on any other network. I have sure seen it on a daily basis. Perhaps where we see bias is in the eyes of the beholder.
Report as
Msnbc is just as bad. Except they're so terribly bad at the art, that it's not even worth mentioning.

Maybe the Canadians don't consider Fox a real news network, since most of their on air personalities are "entertainers" rather than" "journalists" and entertainers have no code of ethics of journalistic integrity to follow. Fox is more of a propaganda network, much like the old PRAVDA in the Soviet Union. .All the networks with the exception of PBS are owned by Giant corporations. News-corp (Fox's parent which made $10 Billion net profit last year and paid no income tax.. Did Fox remember to mention that they are part of the 50 percent which pays no income tax?.

According to Politi Fact, Fox tells some sort of lie about 80 percent of the time. One of their favorite tactics is reporting intentional half truths., but they routinely allow guests to tell "Pants on Fire" lies and say nothing..All TV and radio stations are licensed with the SOLE PURPOSE "TO SERVE THE PUBLIC INTEREST." If they fail, they are supposed to be denied license renewal. Fox either needs to fulfill this purpose, or lose their licenses.

Because they are the only news network that actually gives you the real truth- unlike the other lame stream media outlets and they are rated number One in news.

I vote conservative republican for your information. True republican. Not the Palin, Bachman, Perry, Santorum, and Grinchywinchy looney fake republicans we have today. Romney isn't a politician, he's a businessmen out to make money. A businessmen identify themself to whatever is beneficial for them to make money.

Green DDX! It scares me that some people use truth and fox in the same sentence.

DDX you ain't no Republican. You sound like the goofs that call themselves Conservative Democrats. No such thing. Why would you vote for a party you don't believe in?
Report as
I would have voted for Ron Paul. A party's outlook changes over time due to money, influence, and the uneducated majority. But the core of a party never changes.

Well "ain't" you the "goof"? You're the uneducated mass the current republican party uses to do their bidding. How do you feel being a tool?

Are you sure Fox news is banned in Canada ? That would surely make some of us want to move there and others not. The CBC network is government owned in Canada . At least here our major networks are privately owned. I know they don't act that way sometimes.

Just cable.
All broadcast media.

Bias exists in certain quantities, it's a given throughout all media. But truthfulness and scare tactics are much deadlier when a large mass of individuals listen to it religiously.

This is a liberal stunt. Fox is alive and well. MSNBC was taken off the air in some eight southern states this morning. Due to poor ratings.

Fox News Channel (FNC) was launched in 1996 and grew during the late 1990s and 2000s to become the dominant cable news network in the U.S. In 2010 its programs took the top 10 spots for most-watched cable news programs in the 25–54 age demographic, and the top 12 spots among total cable-news program viewers.

The three top FNC evening shows (Factor, Hannity, and On the Record) are primarily commentary and not news. O'Reilly is an Independent who leans toward Obama, Hannity is a conservative Republican, and Van Susteren is a Democrat who devoutly supports the Clintons.

In 2003, the Canadian Radio-television and Telecommunications Commission rejected an application to bring Fox News to Canada because Fox News U.S. and Global Television were planning to create Fox News Canada (a combination of U.S. and Canadian news). In 2004, after a Fox U.S. executive said there were no plans to create the combined channel, the CRTC approved an application to bring Fox News to Canada. FNC is currently offered by Access Communications, Bell TV, Cogeco, Eastlink, Manitoba Telecom Services, Rogers, SaskTel, Shaw Cable, Shaw Direct and Telus TV.

Because it is not news. It is a sick little forum for the conservative right to distract right thinking people from the important issues of our time. I have never seen it so I am only referencing their posts on Facebook which are, for the most part, half truths or outright lies. Kind of like the 'Onion'.
